BRIEF INTRODUCTION

The ROCS addresses one of the significant challenges in subsea O&G; the use of umbilical’s in the annular between the riser and marine riser. Today’s solutions are costly and often resulting in lost clamps and subsequent fishing operations.

The main purpose of this technology solution is to eliminate the need for umbilical inside marine riser during installation and retrieval of tubing hangers. It is a well known problem in the industry that use of umbilicals inside marine risers is very challenging. Damage umbilicals and dropped objects have resulted in excessive operational cost for offshore operations over the years. Optime Subsea Services has a solution that runs the riser string without use of any umbilical.

ROCS can be controlled from the LCIS system or ROV. The ROCS includes electric and hydraulic power mounted on a riser joint. ROCS will be connected to THRA and located above BOP. Communication will be performed via an innovative solution through BOP (patent pending).

Challenges as dirty fluid from tubing hanger tool, seal test lines, contingency/backup, redundancy, volume control, DIACS control are all addressed in a elegant way. Although ROCS solves complex problems, the solution in itself is quite simple and the main focus during the design phase has been robustness. ROCS is mainly based on field proven components packed in a smart way.
